QueryFail: Twitter Offers an Inside Look at NOT Getting Your Novel Published

On April 14, 2009April 15, 2009 By shawnproctorIn UncategorizedLeave a comment

As someone who worked on several literary magazines, I know how amusing/frustrating/surreal reviewing submissions can be. And as a writer, I have been on the other side of rejection hundreds of times. It’s part of the writing life. Every writer either learns to accept that or stops working toward publication.

#QueryFail was a perfect exercise for writers to understand the common pitfalls of approaching an agent. Think of it as “Scared Straight” for wannabe novelists.  Rather than reexplain it, here’s everything you’ll need to get caught up.

An agent who participated, explains QueryFail and blogs about the fall out: knightagency.blogspot.com/2009/03/elaines–take-on-twitter-and-gasp.html

Here’s a summary of why the agents rejected the queries: http://www.jacketflap.com/megablog/index.asp?Year=2009&Month=03&Day=05&postid=314226

I’m eagerly anticpating the sequel.
